Market research data for AI agents
Competitors, demand and market size from live sources – not from what the model remembers.
A model knows what the web said when it was trained. Prowl tells it what the market says today. Connect your agent to prowl.chat/mcp and it can pull the competitor set for a domain, the search demand behind a category, what customers complain about in reviews and which ads are running – each number with the tool that returned it.
Questions your agent can answer
- Who competes with airalo.com in organic search, and how much traffic does each one get?
- How has interest in “travel eSIM” moved over the last 12 months, and where is it highest?
- What do customers complain about most in the reviews of the top three players?
The tools it calls
Every row is a tool in the catalogue, with the provider's description and a link to its public reference. Your agent finds them with prowl_search_tools and calls them with prowl_call_tool; each call is billed on its own.
| Tool | Provider | What it returns |
|---|---|---|
dataforseo_labs_competitors_domain | DataForSEO | Find competitor domains based on keyword overlap — discover domains competing for similar keywords. |
dataforseo_labs_bulk_traffic_estimation | DataForSEO | Estimate monthly organic traffic for up to 1000 domains — organic, paid, featured snippet, and local pack traffic. |
google_trends | SearchAPI.io | Google Trends — interest over time for a keyword. Use for market research and trend analysis. |
google_search | SearchAPI.io | Google Web Search via SearchAPI. Returns organic results, knowledge panels, featured snippets, and more for any query. |
scrape_review_platforms | Firecrawl | Scrape reviews from Trustpilot, G2, and Capterra for a brand. Tries direct URL patterns first (trustpilot.com/review/{domain}, g2.com/products/{brand}/reviews, capterra.com/reviews/{brand}), falls back to web search if direct scrape fails. Returns review content from each platform that responded. |
meta_ad_library | SearchAPI.io | Meta Ad Library — search Facebook/Instagram ads by keyword or advertiser. View ad creatives, spend, and reach. |
google_news | SearchAPI.io | Google News — search news articles. Returns headlines, sources, and publication dates. |
perplexity_search | Perplexity | AI-powered web search via Perplexity to find competitor products and services. Uses keywords and search terms, excludes the target domain. Returns title, URL, and snippet for each result. Complementary to exa_keyword_search — use both for broader coverage. |
Two ways to ask
Your agent. Add Prowl to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any MCP client with one config block (the getting-started walkthrough has it), then ask in plain language. Under the hood the agent calls, for example, prowl_call_tool with tool_name: "dataforseo_labs_competitors_domain".
Prowl Agent. Sign in at prowl.chat and ask the built-in agent the same question. It runs on the same tools and bills the same wallet.
When one call is not enough, ask for a report: Prowl plans the calls, checks numeric claims against independent tools and says what it could not confirm.
What it does not cover
Traffic and demand are estimates from clickstream and search panels, not a site's own analytics. Market size needs several of these numbers combined; one call returns one of them. When you want the combination – plan, cross-check, a written verdict – ask for a report instead of a single call.
Frequently asked questions
Can my agent size a market with Prowl?
It can pull the inputs: search demand, competitor traffic estimates, review volume, ad activity. Sizing from them is a calculation your agent does, or one a Prowl report does for you with each number sourced.
How fresh is the data?
Each call goes to the provider when it is made. SERPs, ads, reviews and news are read live; traffic and volume estimates carry the provider's own update cycle.
Do I need to write code?
No. Connect Claude Code, Cursor or Codex with one config block and ask in plain language, or ask Prowl Agent on prowl.chat, which runs on the same tools.
