App Store and Google Play data MCP

What ranks, what users complain about, and what has already been patented.

Before building a feature, read what users already say about the apps that have it. Your agent can search the App Store and Google Play, pull an app's details and reviews, list the apps that compete for the same keywords, and check Google Patents and Google Scholar for prior work.

Questions your agent can answer

  • Which apps rank for “habit tracker” on the App Store in the US?
  • What are the most common complaints in 1- and 2-star reviews of these apps?
  • Are there patents on streak-based reminders?

The tools it calls

Every row is a tool in the catalogue, with the provider's description and a link to its public reference. Your agent finds them with prowl_search_tools and calls them with prowl_call_tool; each call is billed on its own.

ToolProviderWhat it returns

Two ways to ask

Your agent. Add Prowl to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any MCP client with one config block (the getting-started walkthrough has it), then ask in plain language. Under the hood the agent calls, for example, prowl_call_tool with tool_name: "apple_app_store".

Prowl Agent. Sign in at prowl.chat and ask the built-in agent the same question. It runs on the same tools and bills the same wallet.

When one call is not enough, ask for a report: Prowl plans the calls, checks numeric claims against independent tools and says what it could not confirm.

What it does not cover

Store rankings and reviews are public data at the time of the call. Prowl does not read your App Store Connect or Play Console accounts, and install or revenue figures for other apps are not in the catalogue.

Frequently asked questions

Can Prowl show another app's downloads or revenue?

No. It returns rankings, details, ratings and reviews – the public side of a store listing.

Does it cover both stores?

Yes: the Apple App Store and Google Play, including reviews on each.

Why patents and papers?

Product research starts with what exists. Google Patents and Google Scholar let your agent check prior work before a feature is scoped.
